what we believe

The Charismatic Episcopal Church (CEC) is a convergence movement, bringing together the sacramental, evangelical, and charismatic streams of the Christian faith into one unified expression.

We hold to the historic teachings of the early Church, rooted in Scripture and expressed through the ancient creeds.

We believe in the real presence of Christ in the sacraments, especially in Holy Communion.

We affirm the authority of the Bible and the active, ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church today.

As a charismatic body, we believe the gifts of the Spirit, such as healing, prophecy, and tongues, are not only for the early Church but are vital and available for believers now. These gifts empower us for worship, discipleship, and mission. We are called to make disciples, serve others, and live out the Gospel in unity, power, and love.

What are the three streams of worship?

Charismatic

We embrace the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit, including healing, prophecy, and tongues, as active and essential for life, worship, and mission today.

Evangelical

We are rooted in the truth of God’s word, commited to the authority of scripture, and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. Through teaching and discipleship, we grow in faith and proclaim the message of salvation to all.

Sacramental

We embrace the sacred tradtions of the church encountering God through the beauty of liturgy, the sacraments, and holy worship. We believe in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist and the grace received through sacraments.
